Az-MERIT - Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching
In November 2014, the Arizona State Board of Education adopted a new statewide achievement test, AzMERIT, for Arizona students. In order to help communicate the purpose of the new test and several important aspects of the upcoming implementation process, the Arizona Department of Education has created a series of helpful resources to guide all stakeholders. Please check this page often, as we will regularly be adding new resources including vendor-specific documents.
Because students at public schools in Arizona need to take the state assessments to be able to graduate from high school, Vogel Prep of Scottsdale offers personalized assistance. The assessments include tests in: reading, writing, math, and science. All Arizona public schools, including districts schools and charter schools, are required to properly administer state and federally mandated assessments. Here is a list of the assessments required in Arizona:
These tests are not just multiple choice, rather they require students to write and reason over passages presented for the reading portion; show understanding of fundamental grammar skills and spelling for writing; and show conceptual and procedural understanding of the area of math tested. Thus, the tests are designed with the objective of providing an indicator of what students have learned during the school year.
If your student needs some assistance in preparing for these assessments, then please give us a call and we will develop a customized program for him or her.
